When a home in the valleys or in Swansea is damaged by a burst pipe, fire or flood, the insurer pays for the family to stay nearby while it is repaired. Winter is the busiest time.
The A465 dualling was completed in May 2025, making the valley towns quicker to reach from the Midlands and the west.

A long let pays one rent. A short let is booked by the night or the week, so it can take a work stay in the week and a leisure stay at the weekend, and price each night for the demand.

All 4 councils we cover in South Wales charge a 100% premium on furnished homes that are nobody’s main residence. Blaenau Gwent started charging from April 2026. A short let that qualifies for business rates pays those instead. See every council
Welsh councils can choose to charge a visitor levy of £1.30 per person per night on self-catering, with 12 months’ notice. So far only Cardiff has chosen to, and none of the councils where we run homes has announced it.
In Wales a home must be available for 252 days and let for 182 to pay business rates. Otherwise council tax applies, and councils can charge a premium of up to 300% on second homes. The Welsh Government is consulting on changes from April 2027.
The Development of Tourism and Regulation of Visitor Accommodation (Wales) Act 2026 brings in licensing, expected from 2029 once the standards are published. We keep your home ready for it.
