Panattoni Park, the old Honda site
Panattoni is redeveloping the former Honda car plant, with an estimated budget of £915 million. Its first 545,000 sq ft warehouse was finished in February 2026, and a 915,000 sq ft unit was due to follow. A further 3.5 million sq ft is planned over the next two to three years.
Great Western Hospital

Since 1 April 2026, Swindon Borough Council has charged a 100% premium on furnished homes that are nobody’s main residence, so the bill is doubled. A home that qualifies for business rates pays those instead.
Planning in Swindon
We found no Swindon planning policy or Article 4 direction aimed at short lets. The borough’s Article 4 directions protect the look of the Railway Village conservation area and Bishopstone. A new Local Plan is out for consultation until 5 November 2026, so this is one to watch.
Rules across England
England's short-let register is due by March 2027, a home let for at least 70 nights a year (and available for 140) pays business rates instead of council tax, and the furnished holiday lettings tax regime ended in April 2025. Read our guide to the rules
