  • iPort and the rail depot

    iPort Doncaster is six million square feet of logistics at junction 3 of the M18, with its own rail freight terminal and occupiers including Amazon, Lidl and CEVA. Hitachi Rail engineers also maintain LNER’s Azuma fleet at the Doncaster Carr depot, one of the company’s specialist train care depots.2,3

  • Thorpe Marsh Green Energy Hub

    Construction started in September 2025 on a large battery storage project at the former Thorpe Marsh power station site, on the edge of Doncaster, which is due to be operational from mid-2027.4

    The airport closed in November 2022. South Yorkshire’s mayoral combined authority approved funding in September 2025 to reopen it, with limited passenger and cargo flights targeted for winter 2027 and fuller passenger operations by summer 2028.5,6
