QTS plans up to ten data centre buildings at Cambois, an investment of up to £10 billion. The first phase was approved in December 2025, and QTS expects around 1,200 construction jobs and 400 permanent ones.
The UK’s first offshore wind turbines went up off Blyth in 2000. The port now supports wind farms including Seagreen, Neart na Gaoithe and Sofia, with a supply chain of more than 50 companies.
At Cramlington, England’s first purpose-built specialist emergency care hospital, with emergency consultants on site 24 hours a day. It is run by Northumbria Healthcare, which has 12,000 staff.
Blyth’s beach and dunes have beach huts, surf schools and the First World War Blyth Battery. Vanbrugh’s Seaton Delaval Hall, run by the National Trust, is at Seaton Sluice, just south of the town.

Northumberland County Council has charged a 100% premium since 1 April 2025 on furnished homes where nobody lives as their main residence, so the bill is doubled. Exceptions include homes actively marketed for sale or let, for up to 12 months. A home that qualifies for business rates pays those instead.
We found no planning policy or Article 4 direction aimed at short lets in Blyth. The town’s one Article 4 direction covers Bath Terrace, where changes such as porches, doors and windows may need planning permission. Outside London, England has no general planning test for short lets yet.
